You and Mark sincerely inspire me! I’m not certain what I might have in my creative tank for this sort of endeavor, but I have had a blast the past couple of days.
Parodies feel like a cross between paint by numbers and a puzzle. I could never write poetry (or the fiction that you do). With the parody, I don’t have to come up with brand new things. I’m fitting within something that’s already got boundaries and lines, so to speak. Instead of approaching a blank piece of paper or an empty page on the computer screen, there’s a starting off point. It’s highly creative but the stress of starting from scratch is removed. My brain seems to like that.
The biggest challenge is what the parody’s overall message is. Once that’s decided, the fun begins!
So…time will tell if this becomes a thing for me, but I SO appreciate your support. I was really, really nervous about this one because I feared it might be too mean-spirited. (I mean, I thought it was funny and biting, but could see how it might turn some off.)
Anyhoo, that was my very long-winded way of saying: “Thanks, P.G. Barnett!”
