But I can tell you for sure, that when I examine why I hadn’t texted someone in the last two days it is always because I wasn’t thinking of them and that means I am not that into them.

Yes, I think that is definitely part of my own conclusions from years of dating and part of the impetus for writing this story.

It really does seem like an unspoken rule (48 hours seems about right) exists.

I will add that you’re right: it can be confusing when first texting someone. Conversations just end and then pick back up. It’s the nature of them. Sometimes I (or “he”) actually text something about needing to work/go/run errands, but I don’t take it personally if he drifts off without saying anything…as long as he picks back up later that day or the next morning. Even if it’s just to say good night or good morning.

I really am working on chilling out! I’ve done a lot of work in the past year specifically. I read you and Dick Millet (and others, of course). I appreciate your male perspectives very much!
