To the chagrin of some Medium readers, I’m an equal opportunist. I don’t subscribe to guys are idiots so much as dating is tough for everybody. But, yeah, it’s particularly challenging for a middle-aged chick in Austin.

I’d say that the guys I meet tend to want a sex buddy who’s #totes #cool with an FWB relationship. Well, actually, some of them think I should feel lucky that they are offering a FWB situation. (Those are my favorite dudes.)

But most of the guys I meet are lost, confused, checked out, shouldn’t be dating anyone, financially/emotionally decimated from divorces, and/or not interested in getting to know me first before expecting me to sleep with them.

There are the occasional “near misses” where we just don’t quite gel the right way to forge a relationship.

Maybe they’re all idiots. Perhaps I am. Who’s to say?
