This is so well-written and captures the dating scene so accurately that I’m jealous I didn’t write it. Well done and so insightful!

I will add that there is one further obstacle for a woman who is financially successful, well traveled, intelligent, and reasonably attractive: she might be fine with dating someone who is not “high status” in terms of some of these traits. But the insecurities of many men will create obstacles to the relationship.

I have found that those insecurities aren’t always known by the men. It’s latent until they meet a woman like that. They convince themselves that they desire financially stable, successful, intelligent women that they are attracted to. But the reality of such a woman, more often than not, makes them face insecurities that they may or may not have known resided inside of them.

When faced with those insecurities, they typically walk away. As you so artfully point out, they have many other options. Meanwhile, “she” has very few.
