I’ve culled my personal sultriest favorites from the 80s, 90s, and even this century plus I’ve tossed in an unexpected 60s pick. A little neo-soul, a few covers, and a lot of alternative tunes.

I was absolutely torn on which version to include. I tend to be a musical purist but I ADORE a remix. In the end, I’m going with the ’86 original version over the ’95 recut of the Pet Shop Boys’ cheeky “Paninaro.”
The blunt lyrics were shocking to me when I was 14, but the beat and Chris Lowe’s plaintive vocal style were kryptonite to me even as a young teen.
Neil Tennant tends to take the spotlight so it’s a treat for Chris to come out from the shadows.
