I didn’t want to make a stranger uncomfortable. He would have been trapped with me! It’s best that I didn’t actually do anything. Well, technically I did: I have connected him with someone in NYC that I know through Medium. They’re supposed to meet sometime soon. I don’t usually wear a matchmaker’s hat, but perhaps this will be a good pairing.

As for my search, I’m always making tweaks to how I approach it. If it weren’t for online dating, I would have zero dates, so for now I’d rather have some options than none!
