I've had a lot of time to reflect on this. I am choosing to believe that William got swept in all of this. He's more of a dreamer than I am. Once his many life responsibilities hit him (and I was so far away), reality came crashing in and this was his reaction to that. The alternative (that he was malicious in his treatment toward me) doesn't sit with me. I realize it's a generous way to feel about the situation and I'm 100% cool with that.

It's also why I broke these stories up the way I did. The first recap ends with me on the plane very intentionally. That story is the fairytale, the romance...and my goodness, I feel SO lucky when I can just focus on that portion of the story.
