My iconic song series is always fun and filled with surprises!
The Smiths’ “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” required LOTS of digging on my part but ultimately I was rewarded with a broad range of finds.
I never really know what my ear is going to end up responding to until I delve into these iconic songs.
Some covers I assumed I would like quickly got tossed aside. The biggest problem I encountered was wading through so. many. waifish Mazzy Star wannabes and so. many. guys with guitars to find the very, very best songs.
In the end, I put in a lot more time than I anticipated because I kept finding the same sound over and over again. By digging deep, deep, deep into the YouTube vaults, though, I ferreted out some truly special interpretations.
You might not like each of them as much as I do, but I guarantee that I’ve unearthed a few never-heard-before songs, unusual versions, and some absolute gems that you’ll revisit!
