This is my Valentine’s present to my tiny following at BMT (and anyone else who wants to read/listen, of course).

Some iconic songs rise to the top. Surely “Moon River” is one of the most beloved songs of all-time. It’s a privilege to share it as the latest installment of my iconic song series.

Henry Mancini gifts generations with this Oscar-winning theme song of the immortal Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Lost, confused, luminous Holly Golightly is portrayed by one of the most iconic film stars, Audrey Hepburn.

The setting, the fashion, George Peppard’s striking blue eyes, Cat.

This song. And an endearing blur of character and the actress playing her. An acoustic guitar, her hair pulled off her face, and an outfit of simple jeans and a grey sweatshirt. That scene and Audrey’s vocal are unfailingly moving and charming.

It’s a testament to this song that some of the BIGGEST, MOST ILLUSTRIOUS stars of the 20th century covered this song! In fact, I don’t think I’ve had this many big vocalists show up in one story.

But never fear! Interspersed between the great vocalists are rare and unknown voices, too. As always I’ve found classic versions, forgotten cuts, obscure gems, and unexpected finds plus…
