I don’t prefer one over the other. I don’t really care how one acquires his intelligence: through life experience, scholarly work, or some combination of the two. The thing I DO find unattractive in someone with upper degrees is pretentiousness.

Some of the very brightest people I know…the ones whose intellect surpasses almost everyone else’s are Christians (and Jews). I know quite a few people who are intellectuals AND have a strong faith in God/Jesus. So, no, I don’t believe these are contradictory statements in and of themselves.

Having said that, I’m pretty chill about my religion and so NOT an avid church goer, so I tend to stay away from guys who lead with their religion. Additionally, the one time I made an exception and interacted online with a guy who had “Christian” in multiple places, he proceeded to discuss the merits of anal sex with me almost immediately. #truestory
